June 14, 2022

Chongqing Cummins engine Co., Ltd. is a sino-AMERICAN joint venture, established in October 1995, located in the martyrs’ tomb of Shapingba District, Chongqing. The Chinese parent company is Chongqing Mechanical & Electrical Co., LTD., and the foreign parent company is Cummins (China) Investment Co., LTD., with each holding 50% of the investment. The company has more than 1400 employees. Chongqing Cummins, formerly known as Chongqing Automobile Engine Factory, began to design and manufacture diesel engines in the 1950s.

The company mainly produces cummins N, K, M three series of diesel engines, generator sets and other power sets, engine power coverage range of 145-1343KW, annual capacity of 15,000 sets. Products are suitable for heavy vehicles, large buses, construction machinery, mining machinery, petroleum machinery, rail machinery, port machinery, fixed and mobile diesel generator set power station, Marine propulsion power set and auxiliary power set, pump power set and other power set.

When dealing with the maintenance of the above Cummins diesel engine, the following tips will be helpful for your engine.

Use fuel oil, lubricating oil and coolant as specified in the specification.
Chongqing Cummins co., Ltd. uses the latest technology and the best quality components to manufacture engines. So when it comes to replacing parts, we recommend — always use Cummins genuine engine parts.

During operation, pay close attention to whether the following conditions occur in the engine. If any of these items appear suddenly, it is likely to be a sign of failure. Please check and repair in time. Poor engine start or stop.
Abnormal vibration.
One power shortage.
Abnormal noise.

oil consumption increases.
A sudden change in working pressure and temperature.
fuel consumption increases.
Exhaust smoke degree is too large.
Leakage of fuel oil or water.
Start engine properly

To avoid damage to the starter, do not leave the starter running for more than 20 seconds. There should be an interval of 2 minutes between two starts.

Within 10 seconds after starting. All alarm lights on the instrument should be turned off. Otherwise check or stop as soon as possible.
Do not idle the engine for too long. Idle running time is too long (more than 10 minutes), may lead to the following faults, or even damage to the engine.

Black oil is leaking from a exhaust pipe
1. Increased fuel consumption
One oil was diluted with diesel
A shorter maintenance interval
Carbon accumulation in one cylinder
A critical part failed
One valve is stuck
Proper engine operation

Check oil pressure, coolant temperature and other engine parameters daily through OEM panel. To make sure they work properly. Check the panel for any alarm information. Take appropriate action to correct alert status or contact the nearest Chongqing Cummins dealer.

Check the OEM panel readings frequently. If the pressure or temperature does not meet the technical specifications, shut down the engine immediately.

Correct engine shutdown

After the engine runs at full load, the engine must idle for 3-5 minutes before stopping. This is to allow components such as pistons, cylinders, bearings and superchargers to cool sufficiently to avoid damaging the engine.

Proper engine maintenance
■ Chongqing Cummins recommends that the engine be maintained according to the maintenance procedures in the operation and maintenance manual. Repeat all work of the previous maintenance level when performing a certain level of maintenance.
If the engine operating environment temperature is below -18 ° C [0°F] or above 38 ° C [100°F], the maintenance interval should be shortened. Work in dusty environment, or frequently shut down. It also needs to shorten the time between maintenance.
Some maintenance procedures require special tools or must be performed by qualified technicians.
If the system is equipped with parts or accessories not produced or provided by Chongqing Cummins Company. Refer to the maintenance suggestions of the component manufacturer.
