China Ship Electric Propulsion Technology Summit was successfully held

The 3rd China Ship Electric Propulsion Technology Summit was successfully held in Chongqing, the city of mountains and rivers. In this summit, the development blueprint of ship power is deeply conceived through the interaction of industry, academia and research and the exchange of academic technology.

Lin Song, Secretary General of the Summit and Chief Engineer of Cummins East Asia Marine Machinery, presided over the meeting. He introduced the theme of the conference and the grand occasions of past summits in the opening session, and opened the information sharing and exchange of this event with the theme of this year – energy security and environmental protection and energy conservation.

Chai Ruimin, general manager of high-horsepower business of Cummins Power Systems Division in China, delivered a welcome speech on behalf of the organizers. Wang Xuming, professor of the Intelligent Transportation System Research Center of Wuhan University of Technology and deputy chief engineer of the National Water Transportation Safety Engineering Technology Research Center, brought the concept of the construction of a new generation of navigation systems. The concept of fusion is even more refreshing. The sharing shows the main directions and achievements of the basic research of the new generation of shipping systems from six aspects, such as ship-shore collaborative perception of the ship’s navigation environment and state, and autonomous navigation control.

Tang Wenjun, Dean of Fujian Research Branch of Wuhan Changjiang Ship Design Institute Co., Ltd., discussed the challenges and opportunities brought by the new energy of ships. Dean Tang analyzed the policy environment of new energy ships, including the international carbon emission policy framework, China’s two-carbon strategy, the development status of inland ships and the trend of domestic water transportation. The analysis of the development trend of new energy ships is drawn through the strategic development report of the United States towards zero-emission shipping industry, and the challenges and opportunities for the development of new energy ships are expounded from various aspects.

Through the mode of cloud video, the representative of the engineering team of Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. introduced Cummins’ new generation of high-speed boat engine and marine engine series technology. The engine is extremely advantageous in terms of power-to-weight ratio and fuel economy, and can be widely used in yachts, cruise ships, government boats and recreational fishing equipment. The Cummins marine engine team has overcome technical difficulties and successfully developed an engine series technology with a new power output balance control strategy.

In his concluding speech, Gu Siyuan, general manager of China Classification Society Chongqing Branch, expressed his support and affirmation for the summit. At the same time, China Classification Society issued the CCS Classification Society Approval Certificate for the new-generation marine engine product seal model to Chongqing Cummins.

At the end of the meeting, the organizing committee presented a unique cloud visit to the Chongqing Cummins high-horsepower engine factory. Large-scale, intelligent and green and energy-saving assembly lines, painting lines, warehousing and logistics and office spaces designed based on shared space were displayed in front of everyone. The summit was initiated by Cummins East Asia Marine Machinery Department and co-hosted by Danfoss, Zhengzhou Zhongzhi Technology Co., Ltd., Chongqing Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., Cummins Generator Technology (China) Co., Ltd. 281 representatives from 135 research institutes, design institutes and ship owners attended the summit.
