1919
Clacy Cummings worked as a chauffeur for Mr. Irwin, a repairman for Mamon Motors, and an auto repair shop owner. At the age of 30, he was elected president of cummins Engine Company.

1920
On Christmas day, Cummings took Mr. Irwin for a spin in a pack-Ard with a diesel engine outfitted and managed to convince him of the promise of diesel engines. Mr Irving thus gave Cummins more money to develop diesel-powered solutions.

1932
The Mark bus was fitted with the Cummins H-type engine across the US, proving the diesel engine’s power and fuel economy.

1937
Cummins made its first profit.
Cummins acquired a 63 per cent stake in Onan, a Us company in Minnesota, setting the stage for what would become a generating unit business.

1975
Cummins started business in China through a heavy machinery project to supply diesel engines to the country.

1994
Cummins officially started joint ventures in China and has established 15 joint ventures.

2000
Cummins Engine company changed its name to Cummins Corporation, and we are not only the world leader in engines, but also the leader in multiple power solutions.

2006
Cummins set up an East Asia R&D center in Wuhan to promote local R&D.

2017
Redefine our mission/vision/values to “drive the world forward and achieve a beautiful life”

2018
Cummins established the Electric Power Division in February 2018, further fulfilling cummins’ commitment to electric power development and sustainable development determination. Cummins continues to turn challenges into opportunities through the acquisition of Brammo.Johnson Matthey Battery Systems and EDI.

2019
100th anniversary
