Cummins ISF2.8 Engine Maintenance
Fuel
• Please fill low-sulfur diesel oil at regular gas stations: PetroChina, Sinopec, etc.
Fuel Filter
• Please use genuine diesel filters from regular channels, and the replacement mileage is 20,000 km. Please refer to the road conditions and usage habits.
Engine oil
• Please use genuine oil from regular channels, the oil grade is CJ-4 and above
Note: In some areas, the winter oil should be replaced in winter to ensure the cold start performance of the engine
Oil filter
• Please use genuine machine filters from regular channels. The replacement mileage for oil and machine filters is 10,000 kilometers. The actual road conditions and usage habits should be referred to.
Note: When replacing the oil filter, use clean oil for pre-filling
Air filter
• Please use genuine air filters from official channels
• Please replace it according to the specified mileage. If you find that the air filter is dusty or blocked, please replace it immediately
Note: It is forbidden to run the engine without an air filter, and the maintenance mileage should be appropriately shortened in harsh environments
Coolant
• Please add genuine coolant from regular channels
NOTE: Do not add water to the cooling system, it can cause serious engine failure

Vehicle daily inspection items
Fuel oil water separator
• Drain the oil-water separator daily before starting the vehicle to drain water and sediment from the oil-water separator
• If the warning light of the fuel water sensor is on during driving, please open the drain valve immediately to drain the water
• Be careful not to overtighten the drain valve, as overtightening will damage the threads and affect the tightness

Oil level
• Lay the vehicle horizontally, pull out the oil dipstick to check the oil level before starting the vehicle
• The oil level should be between the upper and lower marks on the dipstick
Note: When the oil level is lower than the lower line of the oil dipstick or higher than the upper line of the oil dipstick, it is forbidden to start the diesel engine

Coolant level
• Check the coolant level in the sub-tank to see if it is within the proper range
• The coolant level should be between the upper and lower graduation marks
• Check for leaks outside the diesel engine cooling system and supplement if necessary

Air filter status
• Check the air filter for dust, if so, please clean it in time
• Check whether the filter element is deformed or damaged; if so, please replace the filter element in time
Notes on starting the engine
1. After turning on the key switch, wait for a while, and then start the engine after the “waiting for start indicator light” goes out.
2. After starting the vehicle, observe the instrument panel. If the fault light is always on, it means that the system has a current fault and should be repaired immediately.
3. The motor should not run continuously for more than 20 seconds during cranking, and should be carried out at intervals of 2 minutes when cranking.

Precautions while driving
1. When driving, always pay attention to the changes of the water temperature pointer and oil pressure gauge on the instrument panel. If you find that the water temperature is too high or the oil pressure warning light is on, please stop and repair it immediately.
2. If the engine has the following conditions, it should be repaired in time: abnormal noise, vibration, sudden change of water temperature and oil pressure, smoke, weakness
3. Before starting the vehicle, please idle for 3 minutes and then accelerate; after the vehicle is running at high speed, please idle for 3 minutes before turning off the engine to protect the turbocharger from sufficient lubrication and cooling, prolong the service life, and avoid making the engine idle at low speed. The state operation time is too long (more than 10 minutes)
4. Back-towing the engine on long downhill road conditions should be avoided, which can lead to flying and cause serious damage
